Sure it is, if you got a beta key for the online campaign as it still was available at the SEGA registration page more than three years ago. Unfortunately SEGA closed this phase and it never became more than a beta, probably due to the release of napoleon. Chronic View Profile View Posts. U can grab a beta key from sega threw customer support.
Open the game and in total war online youll now have the option to play play campaign with a buddy. It, like all versions of co-op campaign, is buggy as hell.
Pretty much cannot get past 4 turns, even in shogun 2. Its a shame really, as it would be a lot of fun if they got co-op working proper. We can only hope Rome 2 is the answer. Yeah, it sad really. I played shogun 2 in co-op and it was terrible.
Though, the single player is amazing. It's really a shame as the game is awesome. Why is poor realization always the problem of awesome games? Hey, Ive played it with my friend recently.
We have played for about 50 turns and there were not really much bugs, anyway not really much more than we have playing Napoleon: TW. So its really playable and we really enjoed the game!

Maybe, one day, when fiber optic spans everywhere THEN we will have the clean data paths needed for such sloppy coding. Can't they poach from blizzard or hell even Find some old westwood employees to come in and show them how to keep a game in synch?
Hell Ironclad is kinda dissolving. If the game desync's, the host just needs to send the other player the last save. Always worked for me and my friend across the pond.Basically, you've got to have a competing set of nations, families or clans or, as in Empire's case, established nations that could've come and dominated at that time.
There had to be a time where there was a competition element between these people. It has to be a period in which the sort of battles you're fighting at the outset aren't the sort of battles you're fighting at the end. In Empire's case, the way we did it with that was the technology, obviously with the use of gunpowder and artillery advancing all the way through the game, so by the time you get to the end your single-shot flintlocks and cannons have been replaced by rapid-fire mechanisms and long-range mortar bombs.
For example, Empire's time period runs from tobut we probably go 15 to 20 years beyond that end point as far as technology and philosophical advances are concerned, so in that sense we bend the rules a little bit.
There were a lot of manoeuvres you could perform at sea which were historically accurate but not particularly fun to do in the game.
A good example is 'tacking' - this is when a sailed ship zig-zagged along with the wind to go faster. We tried this out, but it became too fussy and we decided to drop it, even though it was a very well recognised and practised tactic of the period.
You tend to find that ancient European history, like the Greeks and Romans, doesn't have much traction in the United States. The European powers moving out into the wider world and conquering and commanding all that they saw. You take a smaller, less established nation and you literally birth it, grow it and defend it in those series of episodes.
15 Best Empire: Total War Mods You Have To Try
You've got huge cannons billowing smoke across the battlefield. All these things are what we associate with what we'd call the birth of modern democracy. It was a fascinating period and it sits within Empire's remit anyway. It was a very good first effort in doing narrative-driven campaigning. So we know we have created accurate representations of the ships. Having access to that level of detail is really a great boon when designing. There's a lot of competing evidence and one-off examples of certain guns.
There is a wealth of information available. This was the age that Britain established itself as a worldwide superpower, so we have plenty of domestic records of battle mechanics and ship designs. Well, a third of the team only work on the campaign and find that really heartening! When players skip battles as they don't get the complete Total War experience, but you have to appreciate that players play how they want to play.
The good thing about not forcing players into naval and land battles is you have variety. They auto tax, auto govern and auto build everything and just dive in and do all the fights themselves. They want to be an Alexanderwho carves an empire and isn't concerned with administration. It's interesting to see how different people approach the game in different ways. Basically we took loads of motion captures of stunt actors fighting with rifles and mapped them onto characters.
The idea behind it was to bring the battlefield to life. For example admirals on ships may duel with each other when you board one flagship with another flagship. My favourite is where one guy chokes the another with the musket and kicks him to the floor. He goes to stab him and the guy rolls over, in proper B-movie style, avoiding the stab while stabbing his would-be killer in the gut.
One is just sheer size and practicality. If you bring it out to include all of China, Korea, Australia, etc. Take China - they were a trading nation and powerful, but they had their own regional conflicts and wars which didn't flow into the international fights that the Europeans colonies were going through.
And it was much later that Australia and South Africa were discovered. To Many People-myself included - Total War is a solitary affair. It's a time-bath with both taps running and the plug pulled out It's a slow wrestling match, where you fight against invisible Al routines and your own stupidity, gently prodding at new possibilities, exploring your own understanding of military strategy, and how it fits into thousands of algorithms that've been refined to best simulate how wars would probably go, if they were fun.
When Empire was released, CA confirmed that it was working on a multiplayer campaign. And as the Total War series has found an online home on Steam, it's only natural that you'll be able to play through the Steam community - or by a LAN.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. As far as I know, Shogun 2 onwards, I think, Napoleon does have the ability to allow other players to drop in to replace the AI for battles. Shogun 2 has the Avatar system and I've seen head-to-heads for Rome 2 and Warhammer. Last edited by Inardesco ; 20 Jun, pm. Medolicious View Profile View Posts. Originally posted by Inardesco :. View mobile website.I decided to give it another go a few days ago and made a point to install a few mods to see which ones were better, as I was looking to spice things up a bit.
So to help other players I made this list so you can check out some of these fantastic mods that I came across. Be sure to back up your saves, though, and I would recommend you starting new games whenever you install multiple larger mods at the same time.
Empire: Total War
They can mess with your saves or simply not work in your current ones since the game is quite a few years old. Check Out This Mod.
The mod adds a fair few new regions to the world map to make everything feel a tad newer and reinvigorated. It contains both British and American units, so you can experience a true clash of powers during your ETW campaign! The mod takes you back a few years and changes the shape of the world map to make it more historically accurate to its new age.
It changes certain units to make them far more powerful, with mortars being incredibly lethal and soldiers such as the grenadier having explosive rifles.
It adds a whole new lot of troops that are representative of the soldiers that fought for France during the Seven Years War, which allows a better transition between different stages of the game and a less radical one than the one presented originally in vanilla Empire.
Tired of every major colonial power having protectorates instead of direct control over their colonies? Install this mod. Gone are the days of New Spain failing to stop insurgents or Americans gaining their independence from Britain. It improves collisions, armor, morale, fatigue, and the quality of naval battles. Oh man. It makes regiments go from units toallowing you to unleash hell upon the battlefields and watch some fantastic battles come to pass.
It contains a bunch of new units, sounds, and a lot of different particles that truly enhance your Total War experience in a game that came out well over a decade ago. Take a minute of your time — breathe. It adds a staggering number of units to the game, all of which are fully custom made and include regular army regiments as well as ships and even field marshals.
But it focuses on providing more content in the form of units, armies, and regions, related to the period that ranges between the second half of the XIX century up until the First World War. This fantastic mod has been made for a long period of time, with the creator having worked on it for over 4 years. This massive overhaul was released over a decade ago inbut it adds so much to the game that it still stands as one of the best Empire: Total War mods in the history of the game.
New sounds, better gameplay, new units, more variety, better flags, improved smoke, realistic blood, and more historical events are added to the game….
But it does make some fantastic tweaks to the audio of Total War as well as bringing incredible improvements to the factions of France and Great Britain. Plenty of work went into the creation of this mod, and you can tell how fantastic it is by simply looking at its changelog. Tweaks to the tech trees as well as the Philosophy trees make the game better, more enjoyable, and keep the essence of Empire intact in the process.Teutonic Order Vs Lithuania Multiplayer Campaign - Medieval Kingdoms Total War 1212AD
Not only will you be able to play with hundreds of new and different units, but the game is completely improved in terms of gameplay. The AI will no longer move pointlessly across the maps the campaign map as well as the battle maps. You will be faced with a far more challenging experience should you install DarthMod. Which means more fun, right?
